Facilities Compression Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Summary:  Provides engineering support and serves as a resource in all areas of gas processing and compression activities with the ability to work cross functionally throughout the organization. Must possess good project management skills used in the development of projects including scope, scheduling, budget forecasting, cost tracking/analysis, and risk identification and mitigation.

  1. Working with Operations, HSE and other internal departments to maintain and improve the integrity of the company’s gas compression and processing infrastructure by monitoring, completing studies and reviews, assessing risk and benefit of new technology, and presenting recommendations.
  2. Optimization of gas compression and processing equipment, revision of operating parameters to reflect changing operating conditions and preparation and implementation of preventative maintenance protocols to improve long term equipment reliability.
  3. Assist in development of RFP bid documents, conduct bid process, prepare detailed bid analysis and communicate results.
  4. Develop specifications and standards of design for gas processing and mechanical equipment packages to optimize construction and maintenance costs.
  5. Support multiple projects with various deadlines and responsibility levels. Such projects include new compressor installations, existing compression rehabilitation and enhancement, well pad facility installation, automation, and measurement.
  6. Responsible to lead phases of continuous process improvement, identify and recommend action plans to address systemic problems as well as correct anomalies.
  7. Responsible for technical application and iterations including process engineering software as well as model based applications. Periodically runs compressor performance software for correct setting of cylinder pockets and suction/discharge pressures
  8. Participates in multi-disciplinary project teams.
  9. Formulates and develops advanced engineering concept in carrying out assignments. Under minimal supervision, applies advanced aspects of professional and technical discipline.
  10. Will provide natural gas facility and equipment design including reciprocating compressors, gas processing and dehydration equipment, water handling and storage, debottlenecking, troubleshooting and operations support.
  11. Perform engineering calculations related to the design standards for natural gas facilities and pipelines.
  12. Applies specialized knowledge to complete projects of complexity.
  13. Proactively leading the facilities projects and ensuring they are fully aligned with business needs.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. 
  2. Three years commensurate experience with emphasis in gas processing facilities and compressor mechanical design and operation, project management, and technical analysis as described.
  3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  4. Strong focus on safe work practices.
  5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  6. Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and piping and instrument drawings.
