Gas Marketing Analyst

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for insuring natural gas and associated liquids are accurately recorded, allocated and sold at the best possible price. Manages and tracks data points to provide accurate information to other key internal stakeholders.  Maintains and provides quality control of production data, for availability to financial and technical staff.  Maintain relationships with gas marketers and pipeline operators.

Gas Marketing & Revenue

  • Prepares daily and monthly nominations.
  • Monitors allocations & tracks pricing of gas volumes in Bolo for revenue accounting.
  • Projects gas production for the purpose of daily nominations.
  • Initiates the marketing process of PGE gas not being sold by a third party.
  • Manages pipeline imbalances and takes corrective action when required.
  • Monitor pipeline EBBs for inaccurate nominations by third parties.
  • Monitor pipelines for Operational Flow Orders, Imbalance Alerts and maintenance issues which restrict the flow of PGE production.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain good working relationships with gas marketers, third party producers, and pipeline operators. 
  • Prepares gas purchase contracts for third party producers for management approval.
  • Prepares gas gathering invoices for third party gas transported by PGE.
  • Prepares and verifies invoices for gas marketed by PGE.
  • Responsible to QA and inspect invoices for gathering of PGE gas by third party pipeline operators.
  • Manage getting legacy mechanical meter charts integrated by third party vendors, and enter data into appropriate production systems.
  • Verify gas hedging invoices for CFO review & payment

Production Data Management

  • Responsible to gather gas production data from various sources and enter data into spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Responsible for informing operations staff when gas analyses are required for marketing and revenue purposes. 
  • Prepares daily gas production projections for external users. 
  • Set up new gas production fields within Bolo/Procount software.  Migrate production data from Procount to Bolo monthly.  Update Bolo as wells begin production.
  • Notify IT and Midstream of RTU &/or meter abnormalities that could impact nominations and monthly imbalances


  • Prepares various reports weekly for both internal and external business users.
  • Inform CFO of current gas and oil pricing in support of bank-required hedge products.
  • Generate Annual FERC 552 and EIA 914 Reports, as needed.
  • Inform Management of issues and topics of interest from the Gas Daily & Inside FERC newsletters.

Degree in business, mathematics or engineering from a four-year college or university; and/or seven to ten years related business experience. Understanding of natural gas data generation and technical usage, gas marketing and natural gas pricing. Experience with statistical, and financial tools used in modeling production revenue.  Ability to communicate with office staff and field personnel concerning well production and meter site operations. Must have general computer literacy, be proficient in Microsoft Office and preferably experience with oilfield production software.
