Legal Administrator/Paralegal

Summary:

The Legal Administrator/Paralegal works directly with the General Counsel/VP Legal and Corporate Counsel to provide a wide range of legal support including, but not limited to, preparation, organization, and maintenance of documents; land title processing; case management; legal research; and management of independent contractor agreements and Master Service Agreements for all PGE vendors. Monitors regulatory changes, as well as industry news related publications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for oversight and management of New Vendor Requests, including review of risk assessment, initiation of the Master Service Agreement process, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the agreements accurately reflect the scope of services and requirements necessary to meet PGE compliance standards.
• Manages the ISNetworld (ISN) database tool as a point of contact with ISN; ensures vendors are vetted and meet all requirements. Acts as the liaison and point of contact with ISN.
• Prepares monthly legal update briefing on industry-related litigation and industry news and distributes internally to PGE management team.
• Responsible for case management and document storage of PGE legal files on an on-going basis.
• Involved with the review of bankruptcy notice filings and communicates to the appropriate parties within PGE any notices that may involve companies with whom PGE has a business relationship to discern need for claim filing.
• Responsible for monitoring zoning and land development in PGE’s development areas and analyzing impact on PGE operations, which involves external communications and research on local zoning ordinances and local restrictions.
• May attend local county/city meetings to represent the company’s interests.
• Processes and tracks Legal Department expenses, including providing information on variances for departmental reporting

Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience.
• 2-3 years of significant and substantive experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm setting.
• Experience and proficient in drafting, cite-checking and correcting legal documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize
• Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows.
• Travel to various locations as required.
