Compressor Mechanic – Lycoming

Summary: The Compressor Mechanic operates, maintains and repairs the natural gas compressors located at compression stations located in Lycoming County, PA. This position supports the Compressor Operators in the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the compressor stations. Responsibilities also include satisfying all safety, regulatory and environmental requirements with supporting documentation when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Operate, diagnose, calibrate, and repair mechanical problems on CAT G3606 and Ariel JGT compressor frames.
  2. Inspect compressors on a regular basis and ensure implementation and execution of preventive maintenance schedule. Take oil samples for lab analysis.  Maintain daily log of all performed maintenance work.
  3. Perform periodic regulatory & environmental testing with proper documentation submitted to Management.
  4. Adjusts the compressor operating conditions to account for temporary well shut-ins, weather issues or natural gas sales constraints.
  5. Operate, maintain and repair other mechanic devices associated with natural gas compression stations.
  6. Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures including using PPE, Lock-out/Tag- out and Spill Reporting/Response per company requirements.
  7. Maintain and periodically function test all compressor related safety systems.
  8. Assist with scheduled and unscheduled equipment repairs and maintenance on compressors and process equipment. Performs minor repairs on equipment, using hand tools and related work as required.
  9. Utilizing Manager Plus all preventative maintenance schedules and results should be tracked.
  10. This position will include being on call 24/7, responding and/or providing directives to resolve concerns as they occur.
  11. Support the Compressor Operator in safely, reliably and efficiently operating the compressor station based on current rates and pressures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required. An Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/trade school in mechanical, electronic or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with compression, process and production equipment, electrical systems and pipelines is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar role within the natural gas industry, preferably with unconventional reservoirs.
  • Caterpillar and/or Ariel training is a plus.
  • Must be available for call outs after hours and on weekends. (This compression facility operates 24 hours per day / 7 days per week).
  • Basic to advanced computer skills and ability to be proficient using basic software programs designed to operate the station logic. Experience basic office software including Word and Excel is also required.
  • Good understanding and proponent of company safety procedures and policies.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • An ability to communicate effectively to management both orally and in writing.
  • An ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
