Compressor Operator
Summary: The Compressor Operator operates and maintains a natural gas compressor station and associated processing equipment. This position is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the station including gas processing, compression, gas measurement and control systems. Responsibilities also include satisfying all safety, regulatory and environmental requirements with supporting documentation when required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate, diagnose, calibrate, and repair mechanical problems on CAT G3606 & G3516 and Ariel JGC & JGT compressor frames.
- Performs miscellaneous operating tasks such as blowing drips, emptying tanks, replacing filters, checking fluid levels, testing safety & control systems.
- Maintain and repair standard natural gas processing equipment including separators, dehydration towers, filters and gas measurement equipment.
- Maintain and diagnose issues with station control systems and SCADA equipment.
- Submit accurate operating, maintenance and regulatory reports, logs, and other necessary administrative paperwork to Management.
- Maintains daily communications with Area Operations Manager concerning producing well status. Adjusts the station operating conditions to account for temporary well shut-ins, weather issues or natural gas sales constraints.
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures including using PPE, Lock-out/Tag-out and Spill Reporting/Response per company requirements.
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled equipment repairs and maintenance on compressors and process equipment. Performs minor repairs on equipment, using hand tools and related work as required.
- Utilizing Manager Plus components should be ordered, placed in inventory and removed and assigned to compressor where used once installed.
- Utilizing Manager Plus all 3rd party services should involve an accurate work order to be generated to track costs as they occur.
- This position will include being on call 24/7.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma required. An Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/trade school in mechanical, electronic or related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with compression, process and production equipment, electrical systems and pipelines is required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar role within the natural gas industry, preferably with unconventional reservoirs.
- Caterpillar and/or Ariel training is a plus.
- Must be available for call outs after hours and on weekends. (This compression facility operates 24 hours per day / 7 days per week).
- Basic to advanced computer skills and ability to be proficient using basic software programs designed to operate the station logic. Experience basic office software including Word and Excel is also required.
- Good understanding and proponent of company safety procedures and policies.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- An ability to communicate effectively to management both orally and in writing.
- An ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
